channel U / So Possible rudiments / RMT-CD026 Yusuke Yamamoto's cinematic music world. Yusuke's 2nd solo album. He does everything DIY style. Warm, organic sound with electronica dub taste "the sound of one world" Yusuke Yamamoto(vibes, flute, keys, guitar, drums, percussion, bass, sample, programming) |
| channel U / APE-MAN TALKING concent productions /CPCD-0200 / 2005 Yusuke Yamamoto's solo project [channel U] features an enticingly eclectic attitude by merging an adept sense of electronica, dub and jazz with the primal sounds of Africa, Brazil and Asia. Tracks on its newly released first album, "APE-MAN TALKING", exhibit a full range of emotionally engaging music with the use of everything from slick vibes, hypnotic flutes, pacifying melodicas and synths, mesmerizing vocals to world beats, exotic melodies, acoustic instruments and minimal programming. Remixed versions of original [channel U] tracks by Chimp Beams and DUB Nomads, as well as guest musicians, offer additional facets to the already colorful palette. In the end, all elements weave into a rich piece of work that one might call, "the sound of one world". Yusuke Yamamoto(vibes, flute, keys, guitar, drums, percussion, bass, sample, programming), Sabina Sciubba(vocals), Matt Pavolka(ac.bass), Marihito Ayabe(keys, programming), K-go Mizutani(guitar), Yoshi Takemasa(congas), Takuya Nakamura(tpt), Jeremy Wilms(bass, guitar), Yoshio "Tony" Kobayashi(drums) |

GOLDEN MONKEYS / Golden Monkeys "GOLDEN MONKEYS" is the World Music Creature that created by multi-instrumentalist : Yusuke Yamamoto. His compositions are influenced by music from all over the planet. And most usually sunny, bright, joyful and sometimes pensive and thoughtful. Taking inspiration from traditional musics from around the world, jazz, and modern classical music, Yusuke builds a musical identity for his band that is unique, and seems to speak to us at a deep level. Evident is an interest in Brazilian music, an interest in jazz structure and tonality, an interest in Gamelan and other traditional Asian musics, and an interest in the sculptural approach of modern classical composers. It is thinking music that feels good in your body. Yusuke(dr, perc, vo, piano, flute, tpt, bass), Chris Cheek(sax), Matt Renzi(sax), Takuya Nakamura(tpt, piano), Jeff Hill(bass) |

47.5 / Warm Sea CROSSTALK (CROSS 05CD)/2010 47.5 is a project from Yusuke Yamamoto and Yoshio Kobayashi. The name of this duo refers to the running tape speed of a cassette, and reflects on their love of new and old technology. Using old triggering systems, analogue synths, dubbed out with tape echo, spring reverb, recorded directly to cassette. They very effectively perform this material live, which is an amazing and inspirational experience as they effortlessly improvise this multi-layered music, with two musicians sounding like a quartet, or quintet. Yusuke is a classical trained, jazz influenced vibraphone and percussion player, who has been developing his musical style by working with looping machines since early 90's, using his electric vibraphone, analog synth, and ambient sound. Yoshio is a drummer who has been working in jazz, dub and Afrobeat styles. On the other hand, he has been having ideas of using electronic elements into his playing style and digging the possibilities of live looping and dubbing, and combining them with his live drumming to create a fresh contrast within his sound. In turns propulsive, atmospheric, moody, abrasive, and serene, this is a sophisticated blend of rock, jazz, dub, and techno that really stretches the ears, and creates an entrancing aural narrative. | DIZZY VENTILATORS / Service Check-In Distributed by nublu records / 2009 NYC club movement Dizzy Ventilators was born in Fall 2008 as the brainchild of Yusuke Yamamoto and Daniel Jodocy. With their debut album Service Check In, Dizzy Ventilators are making a name for themselves as a duo both abstract and simple, extraordinary and the same. There is no real genre of music that can define what they play, because each track is composed of many different textures. This happening sound is built out of New York. Being audience to Dizzy Ventilators is a nonexclusive and universal experience. It is music for everyone--a new wave of inspired imagination. Daniel Jodocy(drums, musical suitcase, electric percussion) Yusuke Yamamoto(synth, wurlitzer electric piano, melodica, dub mix +) |

CHIMP BEAMS / Demo Days 2001-2003 Concent Productions / 2008 Cool compilation of Chimp Beams' early works. The aptly titled Demo Days album features a selection of tracks produced between the years of 2001-2003, just before their first official release Vibrato (2004). Smooth, chilled-out sounds that combine live instrumentation with tasty sample work are what this Brooklyn-based trio is known for and they were already doing it up proper back in the "demo days". Check the spacey dubbed-out vibes on "Sleepless Demo Mix(1)" and "Russian Roulette?(2)," smoked out out downtempo like "Cosmo Dub(3)" and "Org(4)," mean midtempo breaks like "Jupiter Acid(5)," and even cosmic fusion beats like "Dark Water Dirty Mix(6)." Great stuff to zone out to. 8 tracks total, limited edition of 150. Marihito(Keys, Guitar, Bass, Perc., Track), K-go(Guitar, Bass), Yusuke(Vibes, Keys, Bass, Drums, Percussion, Flute) |

CHIMP BEAMS / Menina Concent Productions CPCD-0300/Libyus LMCD-011 /2006 Chimp Beams are releasing the US version of their ambitious second album, "Menina", having already released it to critical acclaim in Japan earlier this year. The title track, Menina, is a club hit, with the 12 EP quickly selling out and causing a ruckus in the record stores. Filled with melodic, harmonic songs, the new full length also has two hip-hop tracks. It's been 2 years since NY s Japanese group Chimp Beams released a milestone album Vibrato into the world dub scene in 2004. This electronic dub band will release its second album in the spring of 2007. As you can hear on the title track Menina , they push the melodious and emotional side to the limit rather than their first album s dark chill out sound. Soft and warm harmonies meet deep underground beats on this historic masterpiece. Though you can definitely call this the world of Chimp Beams dub, they ll prove you wrong if you think this is just a dub band. Recommended for fans of Electronica, Break Beats, Jazz, Hip Hop and House music as well. Yusuke(Vibes, Keys, Bass, Drums, Percussion, Flute) Marihito(Keys, Guitar, Bass, Perc., Track) K-go(Guitar, Bass) + guests |

Vibrato / CHIMP BEAMS concent productions /Libyus Music /2004 Chimp Beams are an electronic dub trio formed in 2001 by 3 Japanese men, Marihito, K-Go Mizutani and Yusuke Yamamoto who all live in Brooklyn, NY. Their concept is chill out dance music using break beats, vibraphones, guitar and many other live instruments played on top. Having been influenced by Massive Attack and My Bloody Valentine, they mix dub, jazz, rock, techno, rare groove, soul, funk and ethnic music by their own interpretation. Their sound is very hypnotic and psychedelic. The 3 members bring together disparate backgrounds to create a unique Chimp Beams sound. Improvisation is a key element to the live show, as the Chimps twist the songs little more freely, adding some aggressive edge. The debut album "Vibrato" was released from Concent in 2004. The media and club music giants such as Audio Active and Force of Nature in Japan praised it. The first single, "Calm" was a minor hit in club scene and released on a few compilation CD's. Chimps are currently pouring their hearts on recording productions for the future releases and remixes for other artists. Mari Ayabe(Bass and Dr tracks, keys, sampler, scratch, echo, bass, voice) Yusuke Yamamoto(vibes, flute, trumpet, melodica, wurlitzer electric piano, drums, percussion, bass, keys, programing) K-go Mizutani (guitar) |

Gelatine / Gie Ji Gaii GELATINE (611357630330)/2009 Japanese horror-comical freak metal punk. In Japan, there was a girls punk band called "10 Yen Anakinoko", which the singer Seiko started when she was 15 years old. This band ended after playing their last show in New York in 1995, and they became legend. 5 years later, 10 Yen Anakinoko played a one time reunion show in New York. A guitarist Jun was called in as a support guitar player, and this led to the beginning of the band GELATINE. Only a few hours after this reunion show, Seiko and Jun decided to start a new band. They had two aims to enforce. One was to let the great songs of 10 Yen Anakinoko come alive once again and even take them to a new level. Second aim was just simply to create new and intense music. Yusuke plays Electric Bass on this album. |

KUDU / Death Of The Party nublu Records/NUB00006/2006 Kudu tap into Siouxsie circa 82, dark Chicago House circa 86, deep 70s Funk, and, consciously or not, UK Jungle Techno circa 91. They are real deal, and their music is so primal that they could just as validly be classed a rock act as a jazz or dance act. On stage Kudu are dark and raw and desperate, but their pop potential has always been apparent to anyone with ears for song craft and eyes for charisma. Death of the Party, set to be released on Nublu Records, confirms this perception. In addition to the aforesaid ingredients, Kudu on record have a sense of fun lifted from Deee-Lite, ESG, church in rural Georgia and parades in New Orleans. Yusuke joins with his Voice on Tr. 3" Love Me In Your Language" as a guest. |

Chimp Beams / R2 Libyus Mix EP Concent Productions / 2006 Chimp Beams makes the kind of dubby downtempo straight out of the mid to late 90s, steeped in the mellow hash aesthetic of reverbed guitars + horns, solid but never hammering drums, and some softy stuff on top that makes it good for boning. This new EP features two instrumentals, "Libyus Mix(1)" and "Rocket Absentee(2)," and one with guest vocalist Roger Kahlon, "Synthesized(3)." Chmp Beams / Vanishing 12" CPV-0200/2005 ~This is their 12" from 2005 that drips sweet, dubby Balearic downtempo and funk. Dip into the warm keys on the "R2 - Dub Mix(1)" for a second. It's so soothing, can't think of a more perfect antidote to a hectic day. "Vanishing(2)" carries the same mood, taking the groove deeper into the dubby jazz cave. Flip it over for some hard drums on the "Calm - Force Of Nature Remix(3)," giving their Vibrato album cut a funky remix reminiscent of early Mo-Wax, while the dubbed out "Lovely Chimps(4)" brings it to a smooth landing. Take your time with this one, it's real easy. Mari Ayabe(tracks,) Yusuke Yamamoto(vibes, flute, melodica, wurlitzer, percussion) K-go Mizutani (guitar) |
